This Overview of CAPS Waves 1-2-3-4 introduces the major motivations for the CAPS project as a whole, the project team and sponsors, issues concerning informed consent, confidentiality of respondents, details of the original sample design and weighting for survey design and non-response. Additionally, a description of fieldwork, training, the survey instruments, and response rates are included for each of Waves 1, 2 and 3, 4 of CAPS.

The purpose of the CAPS Newsletter is to communicate with participants and others more about the CAPS project, how the data is used and our plans for the future. The newsletter also provides answers to some of the questions often asked about CAPS. This is the first in what will be a series of CAPS Newsletters.
